A Non-Ellie Post

So after looking thru some of my past posts, I realized that I have over-Ellied the whole thing.
There really is more to our life than the little pumpkin...not much but some. So here's my attempt at our "other" life....

My Mother's Day present came a few days early. Brent let me get the fireplace tiled. I think it turned out great!

Fun at the Cardiologist

At Ellie's past few check ups, Dr. Kendall noticed a heart murmur - which turns out is completely common for babies. They usually grow out of them. But at her 9 month check up a few weeks ago, Dr. Kendall didn't like the sound of this murmur and that it was still there. She wanted Ellie to be checked out by a cardiologist. So we did. They ran 3 tests: a chest x-ray, an Echo-cardiogram (ultrasound on the heart) and an EKG (measures the electricity in the heart - pictured). Turns out Ellie has an Atrial Septal Defect - hole in her heart between the left and right atriums about 1 centimeter big, which is in the moderate category. And from the chest x-ray, the doctor said her heart is a little mis-shaped. BUT the doctor wasn't completely worried because she has yet to show any serious symptoms, like out of breath, trouble eating, etc. Worse case scenario, she would have to have surgery. Now a days, they can do it through a vein in the groin and don't have to open up the heart. Wow, the things they can do! He said he wants to run all the tests again a year from now but thinks this little hole may just fix itself.

Aside from remembering fun terminology from my college Anatomy class - which I took two times and not because I loved it - I learned that Ellie loves her binkie to be dipped in cherry flavoring. These nurses know how to calm down a baby!

Downside to Beauty

OK, I know that this little girl is a cutie patutie. And now that her hair fits (barely) in two ponies, she is just to die for. But there is a downside to her beauty and that comes at night when we take the bows and rubber bands out. Now, I will NEVER say that my darling daughter looks like a certain "Pet Detective" or famous clown, but come on...there is a resemblance!

Fun Pics of Ellie

OK, don't tell Brent, but that is HIS toothbrush that Ellie is enjoying.

I know that this bow is completely obnoxious, but come on, it matches perfect with her big cheeks!

Auntie Karen picked up this DARLING outfit in Chinatown. Love it!!

No, she's not in time-out. Ellie loves sitting at the window, especially when its raining.

Photo Op

I have a friend in another ward who was doing a fund raiser for their girls camp. They hired a professional photographer who took fun antique pics. I thought I'd support the fund raiser...plus I couldn't pass up a photo op with Ellie. The day we took the pics, she wasn't too happy. That's OK, I still think it turned out great!

Graduation

The day every mother dreams of...the day her little girl loses the mohawk and graduates to a pony tail! By the way, does anyone else think Ellie looks a bit like a baby Aeja in this pic?
